I bought this book in Dar es Salaam airport in Tanzania whilst waiting for a flight and, although it's quite a long book (and I'm a flow reader) I'd read it within a few days. It's the true story of Corrine, a Swiss tourist who goes on holiday with her boyfriend to Kenya. Within the first 16 pages, she fallen in love with a Masai Warrior, flown back to Switzerland to pack up her life and apartment (leaving her cats with Marco, the new ex) and flies back out to Kenya to start her new life with Lketinga.
Corrine moves into a hut with Lketinga and his mother in his village, and goes on to have a daughter, Napirai. The difficulties of maintaining the relationship start to emerge over time during this fascinating book.
There's a good reason the book has sold over 4 million copies and was also turned into a film.
