LANGDALE GHYLL WEEKEND

Guests book onto Adventure Solos events by themselves, and arrive to enjoy a fun, friendly and social group event. The activities over the weekend are a great way to find like-minded people and and make new friends. This is also facilitated by an Adventure Solos host who will be present throughout the event and helps to ensure everyone is having a good time. The activities are not only great fun, they are a way to bond with others whilst challenging yourself and trying new things.

You do not need prior experience for the activities. Most people won't have done the activities before and the instructors and guides are there to help everyone and make themselves proud.

For the Langdale Ghyll Weekend, we have modern accommodation on the shores of Windermere, England's largest lake. This is the same venue that we use for the Windermere Weekend, albeit we aim to provide different activities during the weekend. The venue has 11 acres of privately owned land as well as modern accommodation. We spend the weekend playing in Lake District, with professional instructors to help and guide us.

Friday Arrive in the evening and join us or some food and welcome drinks as you get to know the other guests.

Saturday

Ghyll Scramble - We provide wetsuits and mini-bus transport into the stunning Langdale Valley where we will commence the Ghyll Scramble. There are waterfalls, climbs, jumps, scrambles etc to keep you entertained!

Mixed craft - canoeing or kayaking - You have the choice of trying your hand at canoeing or kayaking on Windermere in the afternoon.

In the evening, we take pre-paid taxis into Windermere Town for a meal together as a group at a lovely Lake District pub (meal not included).

Sunday Leap of Faith - Challenge yourself with the leap of faith.

Vertical Assault Couse - Team games and fun on the new vertical courses.

The weekend ends at lunchtime on Sunday, leaving you time to travel home, put a wash on and put your feet up to a film at home before back to work on Monday morning!

Please note that, whilst we intend to provide the activities listed above, occasionally they may be subject to change at short notice due to factors such as weather conditions and the abilities of any particular group.

• Welcome drinks upon arrival.

• A fun and social group of likeminded people to share the weekend with.

• An Adventure Solos host throughout the weekend (usually Chris, Founder of Adventure Solos).

• Professional instructors for all activities.

• All activities are included, as well as any specialist equipment (for example wetsuits, paddleboards, buoyancy aids, watercraft etc).

• Accommodation for two nights is provided with ensuite rooms. There are larger dorm room if you are feeling sociable, or if you prefer there are a limited number of sole-occupancy room upgrades available.

• A detailed pre-adventure guide so you know what to expect and what to bring, including an invite to the WhatsApp group for the event where you can say hello to other guests in advance.

• Four meals are included (2x breakfasts, 1x lunch, 1x evening meal plus a welcome drink). Any food or drink at the pub on the Saturday night is not included.

• All travel whilst at the event (taxis and/or mini-buses).

We have modern accommodation with ensuite rooms. There are shared dorm rooms (typically with around 3-4 people in) or if you prefer you can book a sole occupancy room with a small ensuite here).

There is also a 'living room' area with seating and a 'brew' area (with access to a kettle, toaster and microwave etc). Bedding and a pillow are provided. You will need to bring a towel with you (included on the 'what to bring' list in the pre-adventure guide).

Welcome drinks are provided upon arrival on the Friday, and there is typically sufficient left to last the weekend.

In addition, food for four meals will be provided:

• Evening meal on Friday

• Breakfast on Saturday is included (selection of cereals, toasts and jams)

• A packed lunch on Saturday is included

• Evening meal on Saturday is not included (group taxis to and from Bowness-on-Windermere will be provided where we will eat in a local pub)

• Breakfast on Sunday is included (selection of cereals, toasts and jams)

• The event will finish at lunch time on Sunday. ​Quite often there is enough food left over for you to make a sandwich or two for your journey home if you like.

• Please let us know when booking if you have any dietary requirements. This can be done via the Participation Form (which is available to you as part of the Pre-Adventure Guide upon signing up to the event).

Specialist equipment for activities is provided (eg wetsuits, harnesses, helmets, watercraft etc).

The weekend is based at Tower Wood, Windermere, Cumbria, LA23 3PL.

Driving – If you are driving, the postcode is LA23 3PL.

Train - If you are travelling by train, Oxenholme Lake District Station is 2.5 hours from London Euston (direct), 2 hours from Birmingham (direct), 2 hours from Glasgow or Edinburgh (direct) and 1 hour from Manchester (direct). You can then get a taxi from Oxenholme (approximately 30 minutes) or you could get a train to Windermere and a taxi from there.

Arrival is anytime from 6pm to 9pm. Most people will arrive around 7pm and we'll cook and eat at around 7.30pm. If you are later and would like some food saving, please let us know in the WhatsApp group on the day.
