NEW YEAR'S EVE EVENT

Our accommodation for the event is The Old School House in a village on the edge of the Lake District called Yealand (pronounced 'Yell-and') Conyers and is in the designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty of Arnside and Silverdale.

The walking options from the door are fantastic and there are a number of local independent pubs around with log fires to enjoy on our return.

Monday 30th December 2024 Arrive at 2pm, and after getting settled in, join us for a gentle walk around the village of Yealand Conyers, and an option to stop by the local pub with roaring fire before heading back to the accommodation to get cosy, 'hygge' and to cook some hearty food for the evening.

Tuesday 31st December 2024

After breakfast, we wrap up warm for today's walk around the Arnside and Silverdale AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). We return to the accommodation to get dressed up in your glad-rags for an evening at another local pub - The Longlands Inn. Transport is provided, and we'll eat dinner together (dinner not included) and hang around for the entertainment - a disco and local DJ 'Rob (the Gob)' to bring in the New Year!

Wednesday 1st December 2025

Breakfast, a local walk and departure at midday.

Please note that the event is primarily aimed at spending social time together as a group and whilst enjoying nature and the cosy atmosphere. We will walk together as a group; the walks are expected to be relatively low-level and fairly flat, with shorter ones typically being 1-2 hours, and longer ones being 3-4 hours. We will of course adjust the walks during the event to accommodate the weather conditions and the group's preferences / needs.

The accommodation is an a beautiful part of the world and, as the name suggests, was once a small school. There are modern kitchen and dining areas, as well as other communal areas to hang out (there's even a small hall if anyone fancies a boogie!).

Bedrooms are shared and will be split by sex (you can select female / male room preference when booking).

The standard rooms are large 'dorm style' rooms on the 1st floor, with up to 6 people per room, with modern WC and shower facilities on the ground floor.

There's also an option to upgrade to a more modern room with only 2-4 guests and an ensuite (find room upgrade options here for women / men).

Bedding and a pillow are provided for the room upgrades. For standard rooms, please bring a sleeping bag with you to use on your bed.

Please bring a towel with you.

The weekend is based at The Old School House, Yealand Road, Yealand Conyers, Carnforth, Lancashire, LA5 9SH.

Driving – If you are driving, the postcode is LA5 9SH, 2-3 miles off Junction 36 on the M6, North West England.

Train - If you are travelling by train, Lancaster Station is under 2.5 hours from London Euston (direct), 2 hours from Birmingham (direct), 2 hours from Glasgow or Edinburgh (direct) and 1 hour from Manchester (direct). The venue is then a 20 minute taxi ride from Lancaster Station, or 10 minutes if you want to get a connection to Carnforth Station. We recommend you book any taxis in advance.

Arrival is from 2pm to 3pm. We'll leave for a gentle walk around the village shortly after 3pm, ideally before it gets too dark. We won't be too far from the venue, so if you can only arrive later, let us know in advance and we should be able to accommodate you.

Hot chocolate and mulled wine will be provided during the event.

Food for up to 10 meals is provided as follows:

• Evening meal on 30th

• Breakfast and lunch 31st (evening meal is at the pub - not included)

• Breakfast and lunch (or brunch) on 1st.

Guests book onto Adventure Solos events by themselves, and arrive to enjoy a fun, friendly and social event. The activities over the weekend are a great way to try new things and make new friends. This is also facilitated by an Adventure Solos host who will be present throughout the event and helps to ensure everyone is having a good time.

No specialist equipment is required for the weekend.

You will require sensible clothing for walking in the UK in winter (such as walking boots, thick socks, waterproofs, warm layers, hat, gloves, drink's flask, rucksack).

You may also like to bring a nice frock / shirt & jacket for a wee boogie on NYE!!!

You do not need prior experience for the activities (most people won't have done the activities before and the instructors and guides will help everyone through).

You should be able to walk for up to around 4 hours on the walks (but we can bespoke the length of them to an extent to suit the group and weather).
