WINDERMERE WEEKEND

Overview

Windermere Weekend by Adventure Solos is a social, fun summer event with activities on and around Lake Windermere - England's largest lake.

This adventure-packed weekend features various activities including giant stand-up paddle boarding. We tie several activities together on Saturday with a 'journey' - a hike up 'Gummer's How'; walk with very rewarding views from the top that look out across Windermere and the Lake District fells (hills). We then drop back down to the lake where we'll be met by our crew with giant stand-up paddleboards (and warm wetsuits) to allow us to complete the circle by paddling back to our home for the weekend. On arrival, we get stuck into raft building including some very fun challenges.

Saturday evening is social; we dine at a beautiful pub in the village of Bowness-on-Windermere and on Sunday we're be back into the activities with some challenge on a ropes-course and the 'Sky Pole'.

We have modern lake-side accommodation which is an excellent base for the weekend. All Adventure Solos events are solo-friendly, making the weekend a great way to meet new people. We start the weekend with a welcome meal and drink in a tipi on the shore of Windermere on the Friday evening, a great setting to get to know the other guests.

This is a fun, social weekend, with the chance to try some new activities, make new friends and discover some of the Lake District's more beautiful spots.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Windermere & Tower Wood

At over 10 miles long, Windermere in the Lake District is the largest natural lake in England. Tower Wood on the shores of the Lake will be our home for the weekend - it has 11 acres of privately owned land as well as modern accommodation and facilities including a boathouse. This means that we can spend the weekend playing on and around the lake with professional instructors to help and guide us.

What's included?

- Accommodation for two nights is provided. Many of the rooms are twin rooms with ensuite. There is also a larger room with 6 beds if you are feeling sociable, or if you prefer there are a limited number of single room upgrades available.

- All activities are included, as well as any specialist equipment (for example paddles, boards, buoyancy aids for paddle boarding etc).

- Four meals are included (2x breakfasts, 1x lunch, 1x evening meal plus a welcome drink).

- Travel whilst at the event is included.

- A taxi to and from Bowness is included for the pub meal on Saturday evening.

Itinerary
Friday
Tipple in the Tipi - Arrive in the evening and join us in the tipi for a few drinks and a meal around the fire pit.

Saturday

Hike - We start with a hike up a local hill with stunning views along the lake below us. We then drop down to Windermere, England's largest lake, where we'll be met by members of the team with giant stand-up paddleboards!

Paddle Boards XL - We take to the water in wetsuits to keep us cosy warm as we journey up Windermere to our lakeside accommodation. The giant paddleboards are a lot of fun and involve a little teamwork to make it work best - each 17ft long board can take up to 8 people. It's not a race...but there are two of them!! Usually we also get the opportunity to paddle a large group canoe also.

Raft Building - We split into two teams to build barrel rafts. There's a lot more fun in the water, as we take on various head-to-head challenges against the other raft team!

Sunday
High Ropes Course - Zip around this 'Go-Ape' style course with, with a few options for levels of difficulty.

Sky Pole - Challenge yourself to climb the 'Sky Pole' - with another member of the team if you like! If you're successful, you can also take the 'Leap of Faith' to get back down!

The weekend ends at lunchtime on Sunday, giving you enough time to travel home.

Please note that, whilst we intend to provide the activities listed above, occasionally they may be subject to change at short notice due to factors such as weather conditions and the abilities of any particular group.

Accommodation
We have modern accommodation. All rooms are ensuite, most are twin rooms (we think it's good to share, but if you prefer you can book a sole occupancy room here)

There is also a 'living room' area with seating and a 'brew' area (with access to a kettle, toaster and microwave etc). Bedding and pillows are provided. Please bring a towel with you.
