Map reading and navigation skills are important skills that are developed and improved over time.

We will give you a practical overview for how to use your map and the basics of map reading. This includes basic features on a map, orientating your map, and planning and tracking waypoints on your route.

With our support and guidance, you have the opportunity to practice as much or as little as you wish over the weekend. This is a very practical and safe way to begin and improve your map reading and navigation skills.

You will require a compass, waterproof map or map and waterproof cover to participate, as well as an ultra fine permanent market pen. We can bring along these for you (option to hire or buy these) or you are welcome to bring your own. If bringing your own, please make sure you have a 1:25,000 OS map of the area.
