Further Information

Please scroll down for further information.

Ben Nevis is Britain's highest mountain, towering 1,345m (4,413ft) above sea level.

It is located in Scotland, near the town of Fort William. The route we take is a hiking route (i.e. a long walk); it is not a rock climb. As such, no climbing skills are required, but you must have a good level of fitness.

We have two nights' accommodation booked for our group at a hostel near the starting point for the walk. We provide advice and a list of what equipment to bring, which broadly includes a small rucksack, some warm clothing, waterproofs and hiking boots (you may be able to hire gear here if required). An Adventure Solos host is present throughout the event, and our friendly Mountain Leader will guide you up the mountain on summit day.

Itinerary:

Day One

We meet at our accommodation in Fort William at 5pm. After checking-in, we'll sit down as a group and run through a final weather and kit check to make sure everyone is happy with what to wear and what to take up Ben Nevis. Once complete, we stroll into town for an evening meal together as a group.

Day Two

Ascent day is fun, social and challenging; you'll be very proud of yourself and your new friends by then end of the day. We leave the hostel at 8.00am and car share for the 5-minute drive to our start point, where there is a chance for a toilet break. Our sensible start time means we have plenty of daylight hours; allowing us to relax into a nice, steady, sustainable pace for the day ahead. The guided group walk typically takes 9-10 hours. In the evening we relax with a home-cooked meal at the hostel (vegetarian options available), where we can relax and celebrate our successes. This is a great, solo-friendly way to tackle Ben Nevis, with a Mountain Leader to guide you.

Day Three

On the day of departure we enjoy breakfast together and say our goodbyes - until the next adventure! Groups generally stay in touch and share photos after the event.
