SEPTEMBER 2022
Summary:
Saturday 24th September 2022: Old Man of Coniston, Lake District, England, LA21 8HU.
Tickets are available here for £25 per person.
Description:
The Old Man of Coniston, is a hill (or 'fell') in the Lake District, Cumbria, England. It stands 802m high and there's a classic circular route that takes us over the top of the Old Man, and passes a tarn (a small lake up in the hills) on the way - a great spot to enjoy lunch. 'Old Man' is believed to come from “Alt Maen” meaning “High Stone” in Norse, and Coniston was “Konig's Tun” or King’s Farm (so High Stone of King's Farm). The route is 7 miles (11km) and will take an estimated 4.5 hours. We will walk at a relatively slow and steady pace for this hike, after which there's the option to join us in a local pub for a chat and refreshing drink. A moderate level of fitness will allow you to complete the walk. The event starts and ends at a car park on the outskirts of Coniston, LA21 8HU.
Tickets are available here for £25 per person.
